Cardinal Rule

Located in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Cardinal Rule is a culinary "embassy" for the American South. Operating out of the Northern Monk Refectory, this spot has gained a cult following for introducing authentic Virginian-style biscuits to the UK.

Founded by Virginia-born couple Gab and Dustin, Cardinal Rule specializes in Southern-style biscuit sandwiches.

While often compared to scones by locals, these biscuits are a different beast entirely: savory, buttery, and flaky, designed to be "stick-to-your-ribs" comfort food. They serve as the vessel for their signature buttermilk-brined fried chicken, which is famous for its "shards" of crispy coating and juicy interior.
