We finally decided to take the 366 mile round trip to the UK's only Denny's and the food did not disappoint.
On Friday 11th October we loaded up the car and headed for Wales. We booked a hotel for the night because we decided if we were driving all that way we better try out Denny's in the evening & the following morning for breakfast too! Boy are we glad we did!
Denny's Swansea is situated within the Parc Tawe retail park. From the moment we stepped through the doors it took us right back to walking into a Denny's we know so well in Orlando Florida.
I went for the Slam Burger with a side of Mozzarella Sticks. The Slam Burger had the famous Denny's hash browns on top of the burger with a fried egg. I can't compare this with the US version as I've never tried one in the States but it was very good.
Adorning the walls of the restaurant were a mix of various photos of old time Swansea alongside vintage Denny's photos taken in the States. They even had a photograph from when it was originally known as 'Danny's Donuts'.
The breakfast the following morning did not disappoint at all! I had the Grand Slamwich and it was pretty close to the one's I've tried in the States. My pancakes were a little over done but the ones that came out with my Son's kids pancake breakfast looked and from what I hear, tasted perfect.
All in all I think I would give Denny's Swansea an 8/10. The only thing I think they should improve on is the table service. To order you either need to scan a QR code on the table, download the app and order and pay up front on your phone or order and pay at the "order here" window. For me that took away the spark of it being the traditional diner feel of the American Denny's that I'm used to and that I love.
A special mention and thank you goes out to a server on duty named Neil. He, for us, was the stand out member of staff that went that extra mile to ensure we had a memorable experience at the UK’s only Denny's.
