The Inaugural County Fair Charity Event took place at Hooters of Nottingham on Sunday. The American themed charity event raised well over £300 for the cancer charity Maggie's.
"It was a damn good Hoedown!"
Country music singer Mike Wallace entertained visitors with authentic covers from the likes of Jon Pardi, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash and Brooks & Dunn. He never once looked out of place at our County Fair wearing his cowboy hat and Wrangler western shirt, he really looked the part. As did the Hooters girls who were dressed as Cowgirls for the day.
Visitors also had the opportunity to ride the meanest rodeo bull in town. Now let's just say the cowboys and cowgirls who braved the bull didn't stay on there very long at all but boy did it look like fun!
Dan and the guys from the UK Cornhole League set up some boards and played the classic American game of Cornhole all afternoon. They were teaching and getting more people interested in the game or joining a team. A couple of teams were also in attendance, the Lincoln Imps and the Bury Baggers.
Congratulations to Ian Biddulph from Lincoln on winning the wing eating contest! He got straight to the final round no problem at all. It was all to play for in the final and it was really difficult to pick a winner until right at the end when he polished off his final chicken wing to be crowned this year's champion.
Nottingham's very own 101 Vintage came along. They had a fantastic mixture of vintage American clothing and sports clothing such as NFL & NBA items. They also sold many American goodies, sweets and good old Mtn Dew!
Special doughnuts were provided by locally famous DoughNotts. You could get a free doughnut, sweets, candy floss or even wings off the BBQ with a charity donation.
Rent a Police Car and Fast and Furious Car Rental showcased some absolutely amazing American vehicles such as replica American Cop Cars, a replica Transformers Camaro, a huge Humvee and even a New York Taxi.
We can't wait to do it again!
Thank you to everyone involved.
