Hickory’s Smokehouse Announce Opening Date!
The highly anticipated new restaurant in Hutton, is set to open ahead of schedule on Friday 19th August… Lancashire foodies are in for treat, as the team behind the much talked about new Hickory’s Smokehouse in Hutton have announced they will be opening three days ahead of schedule!
The second Southern style smokehouse in the county (their popular Southport branch opened in 2018), locals have been watching the transformation of the site over the spring and summer and excitement has been building ahead of the grand opening. The Hickory’s team say they are “beyond excited” and ‘can’t wait’ to show guests what they have done with the former Anchor Inn on Liverpool Road in Hutton.
Managing Director John Welsh said: “We have been looking for the perfect site in Lancashire for some time now. When we found the Hutton site and met some of the local community, we knew it was the perfect spot for a Hickory’s. We have had so much support from the local community and we cannot wait to welcome them all to our new home and hopefully convert a whole host of new fans to all things BBQ!”
So, what can you expect? The definition of a family friendly restaurant and neighbourhood bar, Hickory’s are known for their legendary welcome and authentic BBQ classics. Community focussed and famous for their legendary welcome, their commitment to creating a welcoming hub for the whole area goes way beyond the design of the building. Continuing the company’s ethos of bringing guests ‘a true slice of ‘Southern Style’ hospitality’, the new restaurant has undergone an impressive refurbishment both inside and out, with every aspect of the site reimagined. The whole family has been thought of at Hickory’s Hutton with dining for up to 150 guests, including a range of seating from cosy booths to larger tables for groups to enjoy and an open kitchen and Chef’s bar (which is possibly the best seat in the house). Inspired by a trip to South Carolina there’s a cosy sheltered veranda for all-year drinking and dining outside, plus some additional outdoor seating too. The dedicated bar area is designed to be a focal point for regulars and the 3 large screens will be showing all major US sports and major rugby, golf and of course, the upcoming World Cup. You’ll find a cool, Texas inspired, ‘Fro-Co’ or Frozen Custard station for kids to get creative, and there’s a specially designed kids cinema, complete with real cinema seats and an ever changing array of films.
So what’s on the menu? The delicious menu is packed full of the flavours of the deep South with classic smokehouse dishes such as ribs, brisket and pulled pork all smoked low ‘n’ slow in their Ole Hickory smokers plus a range of more traditional options including steaks, burgers and a selection of meat-free options. If brunch is your thing, check out the popular chicken fried waffle with maple candied streaky bacon; choose sweet or savoury with the loaded pancake stack or go-big with the full ‘Great American’ breakfast feast.
The specially created kids menu has been designed by a team of Mum’s, Dad’s and kids, so it contains just the right balance of treats, healthy options and fun! And let’s not forget a huge variety of quirky desserts (don’t miss the Campfire Marshmallows for sheer entertainment value) and the most incredible cocktail and milkshake menu for miles
The independent group behind the restaurant, who recently topped a poll of the ‘best large companies to work for in the UK’, say they have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the local community.

With super-generous portion sizes, lip-smacking flavour combinations and more Southern classics than you can handle, our advice is, come hungry and get ready to fall in love with the authentic tastes of the southern states. Food is served from 11am until late every day and you can catch the brilliant brunch every 11am from 2pm.
